Alexandre Pato smashes penalty over bar and is mocked by rival player like Martin Keown on Ruud van Nistelrooy

Alexandre Pato was in action for Tianjin Quanjian in their Chinese Super League clash with Shanghai Shenhua on Saturday – and it was a game to forget for the Brazilian.

With the match tied at 1-1, the away side were awarded a controversial penalty and it was the job of the former AC Milan man to win the game.

As you can see in the above video, the 27-year-old looks confident as he stands over the ball moments before he intends to score the winner for his team.

But after a steady run up Pato fails to seize the opportunity and sends the ball into orbit, much to the disgust of his fellow teammates.

One person happy with the miss however was Shanghai Shenhua midfielder Sun Shilin, who revelled in the striker’s misfortune.

After running over to the Brazilian, Shilin held his arm around him before giving him the thumbs up to his face.

Pato does a good job of ignoring the gesture though, which was similar to the way in which Martin Keown mocked Ruud van Nistelrooy during the ‘Battle of Old Trafford’.
