Former JLS star Aston Merrygold has reportedly signed up for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.
The 29-year-old singer, who’s renowned for his breakdancing expertise and backflips, is apparently the latest star to sign up for BBC’s competition for the Glitterball trophy.
His inclusion however could prove divisive considering his background as a dancer, and even being a judge on Sky 1 talent show Got To Dance.
Speaking to The Sun, a source said: ‘It doesn’t have to be ballroom or Latin dancing experience to give someone an edge.
‘Aston spent years being choreographed in JLS and that rhythm and ability to follow instructions puts him streets ahead of competitors.’
Last year’s finalist Danny Mac was previously criticised for supposedly having an advantage, following his years spent in drama school.
Others actually confirmed for this year’s series include Ruth Langsford, Reverend Richard Coles, Gemma Atkinson, Mollie King and EastEnders star Davood Ghadami.
Metro.co.uk has reached out to Aston’s reps and the BBC for comment.
