He may be a music legend, but there’s one thing Barry Manilow hasn’t done in a while – a UK signing.
The Mandy singer will be signing copies of his new album , This Is My Town: Songs of New York, at HMV on Oxford Street on April 26, and the event will be his only UK signing this year, and his first in over a decade.
According to legend Barry: ‘The album is like a melting pot – just like New York is. We take you from Brooklyn to Broadway to Birdland. We even wind up in Coney Island.
‘Take a look at the titles and it really does look like you’re going from place to place to place.’
‘There are different styles.,’ he added of the album.
‘There’s pop, there’s a little rock and roll, there’s jazz, there’s a little R&B, and Broadway. That’s what I think of when I think of my home town and of New York.’
And it seems to be a year of firsts for the 73-year-old singer after he came out as gay publicly earlier in 2017.
Speaking to People magazine, Barry said: ‘I thought I would be disappointing [the fans] if they knew I was gay. So I never did anything.’

The singer has been in a relationship with manager Garry Kief since they met in 1978, with the pair getting married in a quiet ceremony on their Palm Springs estate in 2014.
But the interview was the first time he has addressed his sexuality; he has since retweeted the original interview on social media and thanked fans for their support.
He posted a message on Twitter thanking his fans, writing: ‘‘Thank you to my fans for the years of support. My story is out and I look forward to many more years of sharing my music.’
To meet Barry at the signing in London, fans will have to buy a copy of the album; 400 online tickets – one per person – will be available via hmv.com.
