Best new body lotions to moisturise and hydrate dry, post-winter skin in time for spring

Winter can leave your skin looking dull and dehydrated so now is the time to boost your complexion in time for spring.

Dermatologist, Dr Susan Mayou, gave us some tips on on how to improve the condition of your skin:

1. Wear suncream on your body. “Even a small amount of daily sun exposure without protection can cause premature ageing – which can lead to a reduction in skin elasticity,” says Dr Susan. On your body that means saggy knees and upper arms!

2, Fake tan. If you’re a regular faker, make sure you’re exfoliating well between applications, as the ingredients that tint your skin can also make it more dry and patchy.

3. Eczema. If you have persistent dryness, especially on your upper arms and hands, you may have eczema – a condition that causes skin to become red and flakey. If so, be careful to opt for hypoallergenic lotions.

4. Exercise. “Regular exercise improves muscle tone, which helps support skin and also boost elasticity,” says Dr Susan. Try incorporating a weekly pilates or yoga, to help keep your skin firm.

Here are four new body lotions our team have tried and tested.
