The Blues legend, who was a key man at Stamford Bridge when the Belgian joined in 2012, spoke about the ways in which the 26-year-old has developed this season.
Lampard claimed that he was “lucky” to have got the opportunity to play with Hazard, who always had the potential to be one of the greatest footballers in the world.
Speaking on the BBC while providing analysis on Chelsea’s FA Cup quarter-final clash with Manchester United, Lampard said: “Eden Hazard has been incredible.
“I was lucky enough to play with him myself and I saw the potential in him as a young player.
“Great ability coming here, very carefree kind of player, very laid back off the pitch, but when he plays he has that magic.”
“The great thing about Eden Hazard is his pace, and top players do great things at top pace.
“I have seen him do things in training that I couldn’t even attempt in training, let alone games, that’s how confident he is.
Conte speaks before his side take on Man Utd
“I think more than anything for me this year, it’s not just his performance it’s his position – he’s been closer to Diego Costa.
“And once he gets into those central areas he can add goals and assists to his game and move himself into the real top bracket of world football.”
