Child left fighting for life after being attacked by dog which was shot dead by police

A child has been left fighting for life after being bitten by a dog.

The horrifying attack took place in the Jenkins Dale area of Chatham in Kent this evening.

The youngster was taken to hospital in London in a critical condition.

Firearms cops shot the dog dead for public safety, the BBC reports.

Two people are in custody after being arrested in connection with the attack.

Anyone with footage of the incident have been asked to send it to police rather than upload it to social media.
