A drunk chef drowned just 20 metres from his mother’s boat after he tripped and fell into the water after a night out, an inquest heard.
Alexander Millage may have become entangled in electrical cable and rope after falling into the harbour in Torquay, Devon, his inquest heard.
The inquest heard that “restricted his ability to get out” after the 35-year-old had drunk a “significant amount of alcohol.”
Mr Millage had been staying on his mother Suzanne’s boat with his four-year-old in the inner harbour.
The inquest heard she dialled 999 when she woke up at 5am and found Alex
missing and not answering his phone

She told the Torquay inquest:”Alex and his son were staying with me for a
couple of days when the incident happened.”
She said he was a ‘happy and jolly person’ who had been out to see a band
She said he had a passion for music and enjoyed going out to listen to live music, reports Devon Live .
His ambition was to get some formal training and a trade, as having a job with more regular hours, like an electrician, would enable him to see more of his son, she said.
Dr Nicholas Ryley carried out the post mortem and said Alex’s blood alcohol
level was ‘likely to have made him impaired mentally and physically’.
Coroner Ian Arrow said Alex drowned and recorded an accidental death
