Emmerdale actor Jonathan Wrather, who plays evil rapist Pierce Harris, has suggested that his alter ego WILL pay the price for his despicable attack against Rhona Goskirk when the trial drama kicks off in coming weeks.
Revealing that the soap has a responsibility not to put women off of coming forward to report similar crimes, he said that Pierce will face justice – although he didn’t confirm that this necessarily means that he will be found guilty at trial given that soap comeuppances come in many forms.
Speaking to the Loose Women on ITV, he explained: ‘We’re heading towards a court case, it’s going to trial, that’s where we’re up to in the story. There’s a kind of the duty of care with the audience. There will be some form of retribution. It has to be realistic.’
Viewers will see the trial story kick off at the end of the month and Pierce characteristically will do everything that he can to undermine Rhona’s case against him and paint himself as a falsely accused victim.
While we are sworn to secrecy over the outcome of the court case, we can promise some of the most dramatic and gripping soap performances ever as Jonathan and his co-star Zoe Henry deliver their A-game as always.
Fans can expect the court episodes to kick off on Monday 24th July on ITV at 7pm.
