Facebook has been slow to accept the inevitable – that looping GIFs are the future of the internet.

But after caving in and allowing GIFs in Facebook comments this year, the social media giant is about to let us make our own.

Facebook’s new camera app is adding a GIF maker, which can create short looping GIFs (just a few seconds long).

It’s currently under test, The Next Web reports, and rolling out to just a few users via the iOS app.

Users simply access it by swiping left for the new Facebook camera – and users can add their own effects and frames while making it.
