This is the first picture of a man who died in what’ believed to be a ‘double stabbing‘ in the early hours of Sunday morning.
One man was killed and another was injured in what’s being described as a “serious assault” at around 1.30am in the picturesque market town of Trowbridge in Wiltshire.
Police are yet to confirm that it was a stabbing – but say they have launched a murder inquiry,
Tributes have been pouring in for the dead victim who has been named locally as Jordan Taylor, 24.
One Facebook user, Matty Tucker, posted: “Jordan Taylor I love you with all my heart.
“You where (sic) always there for me when I needed you I’m going to miss you so much.
“My brother miss are (sic) three day sessions and talking about UFC thinking we know what we are talking about.
“You are my true fighter. Everything we planned i will do it for the both of us i promise.
“I love you rest in peace my best friend my brother my true friend I love you.”
Another friend, Ronnie Collett said: “Can’t believe I was only talking to you Friday.
“Gone way to young. Rest in Peace Jordan!
“Your going to missed (sic) by many. Much love.”
Louis Ayrton posted: “Jordan Taylor the fact I was with you hours before riddles my brain. A never forgotten lad. RIP.
Mayson James said: “I can’t get my head around what has happened or why!! RIP Jordan Taylor.”
The incident happened in the town’s Timbrell Street and Prospect Place area – close to Trowbridge’s Community Hospital – and a male suspect fled soon after.
The injured man is said to have escaped with only minor injuries but Jordan died after paramedics – who alerted police – battled to try to save his life.
Police say they are appealing for witnesses “after a man was fatality injured following a serious assault”.
In a statement Wiltshire Police said last night: “The victim and a male friend were in the in the Timbrell Street and Prospect Place area of the town when both were seriously assaulted by a male offender following an altercation.
“The offender then ran off.
“This was brought to our attention after we received a call from the ambulance service at just after 1.45am today reporting that the two victims were being treated for their injuries in the car park of Trowbridge’s Community Hospital.
“One local man (in his 20s) died at the scene, the other local man received minor injuries.
“He is currently helping us with our investigation but please note he and no one else has been arrested at this stage.
“This is now a murder enquiry.”
Next of kin have been informed and a post mortem is due to take place today.
Officers are continuing are looking at CCTV with forensic teams working through potential evidence – with a “number of search teams” having been deployed in the town centre area according to police.
A South West Ambulance Service spokesman explained: “We received a call about the incident and sent vehicles to the scene.
“The first man was believed to be in a life threatening condition and was confirmed deceased at the scene.
“The second person suffered more minor injuries.”
DCI Jeremy Carter, from Brunel Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “We would like to speak to anyone who heard or saw anything suspicious in this area of Trowbridge around 1.45am today.
“Irrespective of how small you may think it is, if you heard or saw anything that struck you as strange – please come forward.”
Inspector James Brain, Community Policing Team Inspector for Trowbridge, said: “I want to reassure everyone living locally that we are treating this as a major investigation and are doing our utmost to find the offender.
“We will be putting on extra patrols in the area, so you may see an increase police presence in the town – rest assured this is all part of our investigation in to this incident.
