Gael Clichy says doubts over his Manchester City future will not affect his form

Gael Clichy insists that his uncertain future at the Etihad will not affect his form.

The French full-back is one of six Manchester City players out of contract at the end of the season.

But Clichy, 31, said: “My future is irrelevant. I am focused on the games and nothing else. You have to put contracts to one side and think only about winning trophies.

“This can still be a great season and I will do everything to play my part.”

City can book a place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League on Wednesday, when they defend a 5-3 first-leg lead in Monaco.

And Clichy warned: “We know it’s not finished until it’s finished. Barcelona’s result shows that anything is possible.”
