Gogglebox favourite Sandra Martin has revealed she once served six months in jail for fraud.
Sandra, who has apepared in nine series of the Channel 4 how alongside her friend Sandi Bogle up until last year – served time back in 1984.
Speaking about it publicly for the first time, she said: “It was a very long time ago and I deeply regret it.”
She added to The Sun on Sunday: “I’ve turned my life around since then and have put this behind me.”
Sandra also responded to an ex-fellow inmate at Drake Hall prison in Staffordshire who alleged she bullied her.
“I strongly refute any accusations of bullying. It didn’t happen,” she said.
The unnamed woman says she recognised Sandra on the TV “straight away”.
Channel 4 told the newspaper: “We do not comment on the private lives of individuals.
“We have been aware of Sandra’s spent convictions since we began filming with her, which relate to non-violent offences.”
Late last year Sandra’s longtime sofa pal Sandi was replaced by Sandra’s daughter Chanchez.
The pair – who have been friends for over 40 years – first appeared on Gogglebox back in 2013 and accepted the show’s award for Best Factual Programme at this year’s National Television Awards.
Mirror Celebs has contacted representatives for Channel 4 and Sandra for comment.
