Today in the glorious world of gatecrashed interviews, a random man decided to peer inside ITV’s Peston on Sunday studio during live filming.
It was a bizarre moment. As Have I Got News For You star Ian Hislop was introduced as the show’s next guest, a confused-looking gentleman was spotted with his nose to the glass in the background.
Peston was urging viewers not to go away before an ad break when the man arrived.
“So, don’t go away because coming after the break we’ve got Ian Hislop,” Peston said, as the camera panned round to the Private Eye editor.
The random man was dressed quite smartly in a shirt, tie, and woollen vest top. His screwed up expression was enjoyable indeed.
Live via video link, Professor Robert Kelly was being very serious about diplomacy when his daughter bounded into his office, marching along in an amusing fashion. Moments later, his baby trundled in on a movable wheely desk type thing.
The two kids had to be removed. But the hilarity had already taken place.
And in January, BBC Breakfast presenters Rachel Burden and John Kay introduced the wrong man entirely during a morning broadcast.
The pair thought they were sitting down with a mountain climber, but on camera was Dr Todd Landman instead, whose expression was probably even better than the Peston gatecrasher.
