'I will f****** destroy you': Football fans at lower league match square up to each other after disappointing draw

A dramatic video shows the moment lower league football fans square up to each other after a disappointing 0-0 draw.

Yesterday’s game at Bideford FC’s ground on Kingsley road ended with a point for each team but fans did not seem satisfied with that result.

The video, posted on YouTube by Hereford Fan, appears to show fans of both sides facing off in the stands with Bideford FC stewards struggling to keep the peace.

One fan can be heard telling another “I will f****** destroy you”.

Bideford held the runaway league leaders to a hard-fought draw in a close game but after reports of altercations, Hereford FC thanked its fans for showing restraint in the face of “unacceptable provocation”, reports Devon Live.

However Bideford manager Sean Joyce said the two sets of fans merely exchanged vocals with each other.

“Hereford’s reputation lately is not the best but it was just handbags really,” he explained.

“When you look at it, nobody threw a punch, it was just a bit of verbal going on.

“The game on the pitch was evenly-fought, hard-fought with no quarters given, and we shook hands at the end of the game – there was nothing on the pitch you could kick off about, it was just two good teams having a good go at each other.

“Off the pitch, at the end of the game, we went to clap our fans, they went to clap theirs and there might have been a bit of a coming together but it’s nothing worth talking about, really, when you look at it.”

Mr Joyce’s assessment of the altercation differs from that of Hereford’s management.

As explained in a post on the club’s official Facebook page: “Hereford FC are aware of the incident that took place in the terrace following the final whistle today.

“Having spoken to officials who witnessed the incident we would like to thank our supporters for showing restraint when provoked.

“We are aware that several supporters in particular stepped in to calm the situation, and we would like to praise their actions.”
