Kendrick Lamar doesn’t have a surprise second album in the pipeline.
After the release of his new album DAMN. earlier this month, fans speculated that a surprise second album would follow shortly after.
The theory rumours are based on the fact that DAMN. came out on Good Friday, and that Kendrick is ‘killed off’ on the first track, Blood, in the lyric ‘You have lost something/You’ve lost your life’.
Many suggested the 29-year-old would be ‘resurrected’ in a surprise album on Easter Sunday, but this wasn’t the case.
The Humble rapper fueled the fire by appearing in a live Instagram video after a signing of DAMN. in his hometown of Compton, California, in which he said: ‘I got some more music’.
Music producer Sounwave didn’t exactly help matters either when he posted this cryptic tweet at the time of DAMN.’s release.
But he later took to Twitter to let the KenFolk – the nickname for Lamar’s fans – down gently and stir up some buzz for the upcoming Top Dawg Entertainment tour.
He said: ‘KenFolk. ThankU 4 the desire of always anticipating new music of my own. None is coming. My work will be in our future TDE dates tho.’
DAMN. is the follow up to 2015’s To Pimp A ButterFly and features collaborations with Rihanna and U2.
