The Reds hope to snap up the 16-year-old – who starred in the 3-1 win over Newcastle on Saturday having struck a double – for £10m fee, claim The Sun.
Jurgen Klopp has shoehorned James Milner in at left-back this term, but Sessegnon could be the long-term solution.
Comparisons with Gareth Bale have already been made, as the youngster has been pushed into a more advanced role already by Slavisa Jokanovic.
Here is the latest news and rumours from Anfield:
Liverpool are the best team in the Premier League on their day – but Reds MUST sign game-changing substitutes
You look at the top managers, and they treat interviews like they treat tactics… with meticulous care.
So, two things Jurgen Klopp has said in the past fortnight have interested me greatly – and not just because I’m doing my coaching badge and studying how people in charge communicate.
He’s got this “lovable” image, but you can tell he’s a proper hard case when he needs to be. Just ask Mamadou Sakho, who has been shipped out on loan to Crystal Palace, or Ivan Perisic, who was booted out of Dortmund after criticising Klopp’s management.
I don’t believe he says anything very much without a reason, so when he told Liverpool’s players after the Leicester game they’re playing for their futures, I believe him – and damn right he is too.
Robbie Fowler explains what the Reds need to get back to the top.
Jurgen Klopp planning to spend big this summer
Klopp, a two-time Bundesliga champion and German Cup winner with Borussia Dortmund, turned down an offer to purchase replicas of the silverware he won in his homeland – because he prefers memories to medals.
But after making an £11.5million profit for Liverpool in the transfer market last summer, the Kop boss has declared that his hopes of adding the Premier League to his honours list this season has been undermined by injuries.
And he revealed that he is planning to spend big when the transfer window opens.
Jamie Carragher admits he is still angry over Xabi Alonso’s Liverpool exit in 2009
Pass master Alonso announced his retirement from football this week after an 18 year career – which saw him take in Real Sociedad, the Reds, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
Despite not bemoaning his pal Alonso from his trophy cabinet since leaving Anfield, Carragher is still frustrated the Reds did not do enough to keep hold of him.
Liverpool’s Alberto Moreno gets some animal-themed tattoos which have to be seen to be believed
Footballers and tattoos. They seem to go hand in hand, don’t they?
And while we could very well sit here and pretend that what you’re about to see is weirdest example of a player getting some ink done, that would be a lie. That ‘honour’ goes to Serbian defender Uros Vitas and his odd creation featuring his wife’s face . But this is still pretty odd, and it features Liverpool’s Alberto Moreno.
The Reds defender has lost his place in Jurgen Klopp’s team this season, with James Milner being preferred at left-back, but that only seems to have encouraged him to think up some weird and wonderful tattoo creations.
And he’s certainly done that, check out the Spaniard’s new look here.
