Love Island’s Tyla Carr says she won’t be getting security after she received death threats online.
Tyla’s dad Johnny told The Mirror that he was thinking about hiring bodyguards for his 23-year-old daughter.
It came after she received backlash over a relationship she had with a man who she didn’t know wasn’t single.
She talked about it briefly on the show, telling fellow islander Theo Campbell: ‘It’s a long story but he was married and I found out he had a girlfriend as well.’
Her dad told The Mirror: ‘I’m concerned for her safety but I can enlist security for any of her work and appearances. We have the contacts for that – I used to run a club in London.’
But Tyla herself said she didn’t feel she was in any danger from trolls.
Speaking to press after leaving the villa, she said: ‘I’m definitely not considering security. People say all sorts on social media all the time, even if you’re not in the public eye.
‘I take all those comments with a pinch of salt. You just have to. I definitely don’t feel at risk. I’ve literally just come out [of the villa]. I haven’t been able to speak anyone at the moment.’
The wife of the man Tyla mentioned had an interview with The Sun earlier this month, claiming that Tyla knew he was married ‘one million per cent’. Tyla is yet to respond to her comments.
Although she was coupled up with Jonny Mitchell in the villa, Jonny was pictured looking very cosy with another former islander, Chyna, on a night out when he left the villa.
But Tyla said she wasn’t bothered that Jonny didn’t wait for her.
She explained: ‘I completely understand why he didn’t stick to his word, me and him were not 100 per cent in the villa, I had my hang-ups on him and I’m sure he had some on me.
‘I had ended things in the villa with him, we sorted things out and we’re absolutely fine on a friendship level. He’s moving on with other people and that’s absolutely fine. I wish him the absolute best.’
