When divisive Love Island contestant Jonny was dumped from the villa it was an exit fans wouldn’t forget in a hurry.
After coming in bottom in the public vote with Tyla they were slapped with a cruel twist – they had to decide between themselves who would leave.
Jonny decided to sacrifice his place in the villa so Tyla could stay, which led to a lot of sobbing from Tyla (until Theo piped up and spectacularly ruined the moment lol).
Days after Jonny’s exit Tyla coupled up with returning islander Mike, and the pair seemed to be an item for the remainder of their time on the show.
Seeing Tyla move on so quickly prompted viewers to question whether she was actually serious about Jonny in the first place.
Speaking to press after leaving the villa, Tyla said: ‘My tears were very genuine. That position I was put in hadn’t happened in the history of Love Island before and it was a very, very awkward situation to be put in. Like, having to decide between us which one of us was gonna leave and then one of us was going to sit back and let someone pack their bags and walk out the door and that is never gonna be easy for anyone.
‘You get ridiculously close to people in there, you’re with each other 24/7, and feelings and emotions are ten times more heightened than ever before. So they were very genuine.
‘The being least favourite thing didn’t even pop into my head at all, it was just having to decide and it was just Jonny leaving – it was just two things.’
Tyla also raised suspicious about posisble game-playing when she made Jonny swear he’d wait for her outside the villa, but then told the other islanders that she ‘didn’t reply’ when Jonny said he would wait. So what was going on there?
Tyla said: ‘I don’t actually remember saying that, it was something I was reminded of. In the villa your emotions are heightened and you say things.
‘So much happens that you forget very quickly. Like I said I did have strong feelings for him, it wasn’t something I could cut off immediately, and him leaving wasn’t an ideal situation.
‘I don’t regret doing the show, it’s been an incredible experience. It has it’s downs but it also has amazing ups. I met some amazing people and made friendships that will last forever.’
Love Island continues Tuesday at 9pm with the grand final on Monday 24.
