Once in a blue moon, fighting sports will provide us with the very rare treat that is a double-knockout.
Remember when Tyler Bryan and Shaun Parker gave us one such incident back in 2008? If you don’t, give those two names a Google.
We’ve had to wait nearly nine years to see something that could top this on a competitive stage, and we think we may have found it.
In the video above, Alan Vasquez and Axek Cazares can be seen going toe-to-toe in the brutal-looking Shamrock fighting championships.
Inside the first round, the pair catch each other square on the jaw and knock each other to the canvas.
It looks, for a moment, as though we’re about to see another fabled double-knockout. However, Vasquez miraculously climbs to his feet before the countdown ends.
His opponent, Cazares, is in all sorts of trouble and gives the referee no option but to end the fight.
Somehow, a double-knockdown with a winner occurs – and it’s amazing.
