Liverpool have seen their €50 million (£42m) bid for Marco Asensio rejected by Real Madrid, according to reports in Spain.
AS and Cope claim that Asensio has attracted interest from a host of clubs around Europe and Jurgen Klopp’s side have followed up with a huge £42m offer.
But Madrid have turned down Liverpool’s approach and have no intention of selling the 21-year-old, who also has no plans to leave the Santiago Bernabeu.
AS also report that Zidane has placed a lot of faith in Asensio’s ability, and has told the club that he would allow James Rodriguez to leave the club this summer in order to allow the Spaniard more first-team opportunities.

Asensio was signed for £3m in December 2014 and after returning from a season-long loan spell with Espanyol last summer, the midfielder is gradually being introduced into the first team by Zinedine Zidane.
Asensio has played just under 1000 minutes in La Liga and the Champions League this season but has five goals and two assists across both competitions.
The Spain international has also scored three goals in four Copa del Rey appearances this term.
