Smoke me a kipper! The makers of Red Dwarf have revealed the episode titles for the 12th series of the long running sci-fi comedy.
The sci-fi sitcom is returning to our screens for six brand new episodes ‘featuring a whole host of star guests’.
Red Dwarf XII announced on its Facebook page that the new series will air exclusively on Dave in the autumn and now they’ve released the titles for the mini-series to keep fans’ appetites whet.
The series, will continue to tell the story of the survivors on spaceship Red Dwarf three million years in the future.
The original show ran from 1988 to 1993 before returning again in 1997 for a couple of years. It was rebooted again in 2009 for a mini-series and returned for a full series in 2012.
Of course, nothing in the crew’s reality is what it seems and the latest cryptic episode titles are no different, with the full list released on the show’s Instagram page.
As Digital Spy pointed out, Mechocracy pertains to the gang turning into Kryten-esque mechanoids, whereas Timewave could involve another time travelling escapade (remember the International Emmy Award winning Gunmen Of The Apocalypse episode, where the crew travel back to the days of the wild west?)
The finale title ‘Skipper’ is a potential call back to the nickname Ace Rimmer gave to Lister way back when. Maybe Ace will make his return soon – maybe in time for breakfast, too.
The new series’ cast – Craig Charles (Lister), Chris Barrie (Rimmer), Danny John-Jules (Kat) – spent hours in make-up to be transformed into mechanoids, a process usually only endured by Robert Llewellyn.
It was so uncomfortable, so hot, I thought I was crying at one point but I wasn’t, I was sweating through my eyes! Chris (Barrie) got ill wearing it,’ said Charles, who has played low-ranking crew member Dave Lister since 1988.
However, there is no official launch date for Red Dwarf XII yet, but it has been confirmed to air this autumn.
But – just like last year – the creators are giving people the chance to watch the first episode of Red Dwarf XII – before anyone else! -at the Edinburgh TV festival on August 23.
