Reports Jeremy Corbyn's son Seb to run for Parliament dismissed as 'nonsense'

Reports that Jeremy Corbyn’s son, Seb, will stand for Labour at the general election have been dismissed by sources close to the 25-year-old.

It had been suggested that Mr Corbyn junior, who is currently chief of staff to Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell, was hoping to secure the safe Labour seat of Liverpool Walton.

The constituencies current MP, Steve Rotherham, who has served as a aide to the Labour leader, is standing down to focus on his bid to become mayor of Liverpool.

A source close to Seb Corbyn told The Independent the story was “nonsense”. 

His father’s office added that it was “categorically untrue”.
