Stephanie Davis has only just reunited with her ex Jeremy McConnell – and although they’re not officially dating, she’s already playing a big part in his life.
It was down to the mum of one to break the news to Jeremy that his dad had died.
The Irish model’s dad, Eugene Cooke, passed away at the start of March following a short battle with cancer.
And Steph was seen by Jeremy’s side at the funeral in Dublin.
“I was the one who had to tell him,” she told OK! magazine .
“Jeremy’s phone is broken so his sister called me to let me know what had happened.
“Jeremy was due to come over to mine so when he got there I asked him to sit down, but he could tell just by looking at me what had happened.
“It was one of the worst things I have had to tell someone in my life.”
She admitted that the death of his father has hit Jeremy “hard”.
She said: “He was very close to his dad so it’s hit him hard.
“It’s been heartbreaking but he’s managed to stay remarkably strong.
“Sadly his dad never got to meet Caben, which is devastating as I know how much he was looking forward to meeting him.”
Stephanie didn’t talk to her ex-boyfriend for months – despite being pregnant with his baby.
But now nearly two months after giving birth to their son Caben-Albi, Steph has the father of her child back in her life.
“If someone told me a few months ago that Jeremy and I would be on speaking terms I would have laughed in their face,” she said.
But after becoming a mother, Steph has found it in her heart to forgive her ex.
“I never thought that we would be able to forgive each other for what has gone on in the past, but having Caben around has changed everything.
“We have both done a lot of growing up, we’re not the same people we were and are trying our best to co-parent as much as we can in order to be good parents to our son.”
Jeremy recently moved from Ireland to Liverpool to be closer to Caben – but Steph admitted that although they’re back on speaking terms, they’re not officially back together just yet.
“No we’re not back together,” she admitted.
“We’re just taking it day by day – I don’t know what the future holds. Our priority at the present time is to provide what’s best for Caben.
“We’ll always hold a special place in each other’s hearts as Caben’s parents, but for now we both have work commitments coming up that we need to concentrate on.”
