Holby City star Joe McFadden has been announced as the latest addition to this year’s Strictly Come Dancing line-up.
He is the sixth celebrity to be confirmed for the new series, and joins other TV stars including Ruth Langsford and Davood Ghadami.
Speaking about the opportunity Joe said, ‘Strictly is one of the biggest, most entertaining shows on TV and being asked to be part of it is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I’m thrilled and terrified about in equal measures!’
Who is Joe McFadden?
The actor is best known for appearing in the medical drama Holby City since 2014, playing the role of surgeon Raf di Lucca.
Born in Glasgow in Scotland, Joe has gradually made his way up the acting ladder, starting with various stage performances before moving towards television.
His first notable role came in 2007 when he played PC Joe Mason in Heartbeat for two seasons.
It wasn’t until 2014 that he was offered a leading role in Holby City, where he has remained since.

As well as his performance in Holby City, Joe McFadden has also made appearances in various other TV shows and films.
He has acted in shows such as Casualty, Heartbeat, The Glass and Sex,Chips & Rock n’ Roll.
As well as his appearances on TV, Joe has also been involved in various stage productions.
The diverse actor has performed in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Rent, Torch Song Trilogy and many others.
