Thai monk gives Angelina Jolie painful tattoos 'binding her' to Brad Pitt – just before their marriage fell apart

These never-seen-before photos show Angelina Jolie getting tattooed by a Thai ex-monk.

Famed tattoo artist Ajarn Noo Kanpai was flown from Bangkok to Siem Reap in Cambodia, where she was filming.

The mystical ink was applied using steel rods mounted with a surgical steel needle – more accurate than a tattoo gun, but also much more painful.

The three Sak yant tattoos were applied to her back while her ex Brad Pitt was given a Buddhist symbol on his stomach.

The photographs were taken as Mr and Mrs Smith star Angelina directed Netflix movie First They Killed My Father in February last year.

The two designs were intended “to symbolically bind them as husband and wife”, but their marriage fell apart just months later. They separated in September 2016.

Angelina was first tattooed by Ajarn Noo Kanpai in 2003, and had another in 2004. The tattoo artist to the stars has also worked with model Cara Delevingne and actress Michelle Rodriguez.

This time she got several more tattoos and incantations.

One-time monk Ajarn – who describes himself as “the most well-known master of Thai spiritual tattoo, also known as Sak Yant” – is based in a temple near Bangkok.

His tattoos, which cost thousands of dollars, are said to protect whoever has them.
