The everyday items you should always carry, revealed

If this last year has taught us anything it’s that you need to be prepared for every eventuality.

Whether your travels are taking you 10 or 10,000 miles away from home, two days or two weeks, there are some things that will always come in handy.

They’re the things you check your pockets for everyday before you head out the door, the things that you feel naked without or that would completely throw off your day if you had to do without.

Luckily, for the forgetful among us, people have taken to Reddit to share their everyday essentials so you will never find yourself amiss again.

In the technology-obsessed era we live in, it may come as no surprise that mobile phones proved just as popular as carrying your wallet and keys – but don’t forget about the battery life.

“A charger tends to help,” one person wrote.

Other practical items that everyone, regardless of their gender, should carry at all times included money, a pen, water, tissues and a first aid kit.

But, there were a few less-obvious suggestions too.

“Extra clothes in the car,” someone suggested.

“Break down in cold weather? Spill a drink on yourself? On a date and they get cold? You are covered all around.”

Other people proposed carrying items just in case other people might need them or as a quick-fire way to network.

“I always have a deck of cards in my backpack, most people know how to play something,” someone added.

While another person suggested, “Gum. You never know when you’ll need to freshen your breath, and giving a piece away is the most inexpensive way to make a new friend.”

The most unusual list though came from one person who, as well as carrying useful items like jumper cables and an umbrella, counted Earl Grey tea and a beer funnel amongst their every day essentials.
