Ticket tout crackdown announced as ministers unveil plans to criminalise the use of 'bots'

A crack-down against online ticket touts could be in force by the ­summer in a major victory for the Sunday Mirror’s campaign.

Ministers have revealed plans to criminalise the use of “bots”, software which helps touts bulk-buy seats before flogging them for huge profits on resale websites.

The FanFairAlliance – set up by managers of acts ­including One Direction and Little Mix – said: “It is a vindication for campaigners like the Sunday Mirror who have called for changes in this shadowy market.”
