Will Smith is reportedly in talks to play the Genie in Disney’s forthcoming live-action remake of Aladdin.
The 48-year-old actor was previously connected to Tim Burton’s reboot of Dumbo, but now it seems Will Smith could be climbing aboard another live-action remake.
According to Deadline, Smith is currently in ‘early talks’ to tackle the Genie role in Guy Ritchie’s Aladdin – following in the footsteps of Robin Williams in the 1992 original.

It’s certainly not the worst choice if true – considering he’s a great lively comic actor when given the right material, as shown in Fresh Prince Of Bel Air, Men In Black and Bad Boys.
Following Robin Williams’ iconic vocal performance however will be a daunting task for anyone. We’re just hoping there’s dance numbers aplenty.
Aladdin is part of a number of live-action remakes planned by Disney, following the success of The Jungle Book and Beauty And The Beast.
Other remakes planned include Tim Burton’s Dumbo and Jon Favreau’s The Lion King.
If you want to know what happens when Will Smith isn’t in ‘early talks’ – he’s busy chopping off son Jaden’s hair.
